About the Artist

James Henke

I’m a self-taught marble artist who has been making one-of-a-kind lampworked marbles since 2002. I’m known for the unique combination of colors I use in my work. I have always been fascinated with glass, the smoothness and the way it interacts with light. Working with glass at the torch gives me an intimate feeling with the glass; I’m just a few inches away from the molten glass. At the same time it is also a distant feeling, you just can’t touch glass while you are working it, you can only use tools. It is also one of the few materials that not only is the final art piece, but it can also be used as a tool to create the art as well. My marbles and beads are shown at a number of art shows around the country including the GSR Show and the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. I live in Anoka Minnesota with my artist partner Delayne.
